Introducing The Goofy Barrel, a one-of-a-kind whisky crafted with sustainability and innovation at its core. Aged for over three years in American oak ex-bourbon casks, this whisky redefines tradition by incorporating leftover sourdough bread and malted barley, sourced from New South Wales, Australia.
This marks Hang 10 Distillery’s first limited-edition whisky release, offering fewer than 180 bottles. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Making it a truly rare collector’s item.
Why It’s Special
This isn’t just any whisky. The Goofy Barrel is the world’s first whisky made from leftover sourdough bread, ensuring that what might have gone to waste is transformed into liquid gold. Exclusively using Berkelo’s brown loaf sourdough bread and Voyager Craft Malt’s Schooner variety, this whisky embodies both sustainable craftsmanship and extraordinary flavour.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Sweet honey, baking spices, earthy leather
- Palate: Crème caramel, savoury notes, honey, vanilla, and dandelion
- Finish: Long, with sweet oak and bourbon character
How It’s Made
- Grain & Bread: Schooner malt barley from Voyager Craft Malt and leftover sourdough bread from Berkelo
- Barrel: American Oak ex-bourbon casks, coopered by Transwood
- Process: Column-distilled in March 2021 and aged over three years until December 2024
